Volkswagen's 2020 Tiguan is a brand new model. It's a compact crossover that offers standout styling, lots of room and a surprisingly nice interior, especially on top-trim models.
The tiguan car is great for families. It has plenty space and a ton of tech that keeps everyone happy. The tiguan has a good fuel efficiency, but it is not as efficient as many of its competitors' base engines.
A Tiguan R price starts at about R999 900 for the base FWD trim, and the range-topping SE R-Line Black version costs about $31,315 for front-wheel drive (and $34,990 for 4Motion). Both have all the gadgets you would expect, such a satnav, panoramic sunroofs and VW infotainment systems.
It's a comfortable ride, too, and it has loads of cargo room, including an impressive 615-litre boot. With the third seat folded, this is enough space for four to five people.
As expected from a compact SUV, the driving position is high and visibility is great. Even if you are taller than the average person, there is plenty of legroom at the rear.

Wide door openings make this car easy to get into. The rear seats can be moved forward and back to adjust boot space or seat position depending on your needs.
It's not all good news: The Tiguan has a less flexible third row than some rivals and getting into the second seat requires some physical strength.
It's a car that's not as exciting to look at as some other SUVs, either. It's a bit of a shame because its interior is pretty decent.
Interior is well-designed and intuitive, with plenty of technology available that's worth it. The dashboard has touchscreen controls as well as a digital display. This makes using the infotainment easy.
Getting around the city is easy too, thanks to the big wheels and light weight. We got an EPA-estimated 24 miles per gallon in our test, which is about what you'd expect for a small SUV.
The Tiguan has a Sport Mode that sharpens the steering and throttle for an active driving experience. Volkswagen's lack of adaptive dampers is a disappointment.

You can't blame them since it takes a great deal of work to fit the car correctly.
Volkswagen should add more active safety measures to the Tiguan. The Tiguan could have a rearview cam that tracks the car or autonomous braking.
VW should introduce a new engine, such as a 2.0-liter turbocharged one. It would give it more bite which would make the car feel more fun to drive.
You can also consider other options, like a hybrid plug-in model. It's not available in South Africa, but it's a nice option to have.
