Metawe was established in 1997 as a consultancy company for Indigenous youth. The goal is to provide the tools and support needed to help them succeed as adults. The emphasis is on healthy relationships and life skills. The shop also promotes games like Photosynthesis, which are sustainable. It actively supports designers by supporting them through Kickstarter campaigns, retail purchases, and other means. Mixed reviews were received for the shop's first month of operation.
